Top 10 Elementary School Field Trips

It's hard to picture nice weather with the snow covering everything in sight, but spring really is just around the corner. Young children are sure to grow restless when the weather improves, causing classroom distractions and reducing valuable teaching time.

The solution? Field trips. Classroom outings introduce kids to exciting new things while allowing educators to teach outside the traditional school environment, breaking up the school day nicely for all parties. Here are ten field trips your students will love and learn from:

10) Bar Kids can learn about different types of alcoholic beverages, many of which their parents enjoy.

A slaughterhouse is just one of many exciting ideas for a spring field trip.

9) Strip Club Maybe little Susie's mom works as a dancer. She and her friends can see what Mommy does for a living. Stage names reinforce the lessons of make-believe.

8) Public Housing Project Show your students where the school janitor lives, while teaching students about the urban underworld.

7) Slaughterhouse A trip to the slaughterhouse will show children what happens when they don't behave at school.

6) Teacher's Apartment Do you have students who want to be teachers? Your apartment should give them pause. Show them the cum stains the gym teacher, substitute, and principal left on your sheets last month.

5) Restaurant Kitchen A field trip to the local Olive Garden will let students see what Mexicans and musicians do for a living.

4) Homeless Shelter Students will have fun laughing at all the stinky people.

3) Sweatshop Your kids can see where their clothes come from.

2) Greyhound Track Students can throw rocks at the dogs left in the parking lot after being abandoned by their owners.

1) Abortion Clinic Each student gets a dead fetus to take home, and the young girls in your class will know where to go when the time comes.
